Together with the Lithuanian Education Councils of the United States and Canada, we invite all Lithuania school students to contribute to the XI North American Lithuanian Song Festival not only with their voices but also with their other talents!
We ask that each student make 3-5 white folded paper birds. They will be used in the prologue piece of the song festival “Baltas paukštis” (“The White Songbird”) in a moment of serenity to remember the fighters for Lithuania’s independence and to pray for the freedom won and maintained until today as well as to honor and show solidarity with our sister Ukraine in her daily struggle for freedom. This project was approved by the son of Vytautas Kernagis himself.

Birds can be of several sizes. Recommended paper sizes for folding and links to where you can conveniently and inexpensively purchase paper rolls of this size:

A “shish kebab” type stick should be glued to the finished bird. To facilitate sending in the mail, we suggest not to glue the sticks and just to send the requisite number together in the package.
