Augis Dicevičius

Eugenijus Dicevičius (a.k.a. Augis), a talented singer-songwriter from Lithuania, began his music career over thirty years ago during his high school years in his hometown of Utena. A self-taught guitarist, he composed his first song with sophisticated and refined lyrics at the age of fifteen. Soon after, he joined the local band “Soul” (Lithuanian: Siela) as a solo guitarist. Eugenijus left Utena to study at Kaunas University. When he returned to his hometown in 1996, he and a group of friends formed the band ‘Volens Nolens’. Although the group never released an album, they performed at various festivals, concerts, and social gatherings.

Currently, Eugenijus and his family reside in Cleveland, Ohio, where he is actively involved in the local Lithuanian community. He hosts a Lithuanian radio show on WJCU radio station every Sunday morning.

Augis has performed for Lithuanian communities across the United States – among them, Baltimore, Long Island, New Jersey, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Portland, Detroit, Rochester, Frackville, Los Angeles, San Francisco – and now he will welcome everyone to his hometown Cleveland on the opening night of the Song Festival!

Augis plays popular Lithuanian and English music from different generations, along with his own songs, and hopes you will enjoy his performance.

Vaivora

“Vaivora” dance group is known for its unique style, blending modernized Lithuanian folklore with the rich traditions of Lithuanian paganism, reflected in their striking concert costumes. The 10 dancers will perform 3 dances: Abruzėlis, Šermukšnis, and Mūsų dienos kaip šventė. Their performance is sure to leave a lasting impression on any audience.

Dress code: Get to know one another!

Choirs who have their own choir t-shirts are invited to continue that tradition and to come to the Friday Welcome Evening – Indoor Street Party in their special choir “uniform” along with any other special accessories that identify what city you are from at a glance!

Coming in as a spectator? Not to worry! Don your favorite Lithuanian gear.

Having just traveled in from various countries and cities, let’s celebrate old friends, make new ones for life, and mark the heritage that brought us together.

The halls will be decked out in the colors of the Lithuanian flag – yellow, green and red! If you step out on the patio at night, you might even catch Cleveland’s landmark skyscraper, Terminal Tower, lit up the same!
